Featured Interview: Steffon Josey
We were able to have Steffon join us in this episode. We first learned about his story here on NJ.com Steffon was prosecuted by the state of New Jersey for having a firearm in his glove compartment. He maintains that he had placed the firearm there while at home to keep it out of sight of his young sister. However, he forgot to take it out before leaving his home. Steffon is working to have his rights restored, as he doesn’t believe that justice was served.
As you listen, please remember that Steffon isn’t a Second Amendment advocate with significant experience in the community. He is simply a young man in New Jersey who tried to follow the law. As such, his story provides an example of how confusing and nonsensical the laws in New Jersey have become. Even the police officers, and supervisor, at the scene where Steffon’s gun was seized seem to have been conflicted on how the situation should be handled.
Also, something that may seem familiar in this story is a common complaint about how gun owners are represented by their attorneys, where the focus is on simply avoiding jail-time at all costs rather than working to have clients exonerated. Should this be a bigger topic than it is?
